Lucky 13: Celebrating 13 Years of Sheridan Worldwide with Risk, Strategy and a bit of Poker

On a summer evening filled with laughter, conversation and nearly-competition, Sheridan Worldwide marked a major milestone: 13 years of transformative work in leadership, wellbeing and organisational change. Our “Lucky 13” celebration brought together clients, colleagues and friends to recognise everything we’ve built together—and to toast to the future.

The night was about more than celebration. It was about what happens when we embrace bold thinking, smart risks and human connection.

An Evening of Insight and Aces

The highlight of the evening was our guest speaker, Caspar Berry—a former professional poker player turned keynote speaker, whose talk on risk, decision-making and strategy sparked reflection and conversation across the room.

Rather than offering business jargon, Caspar brought raw, relatable insight—showing us how the world of poker can teach powerful lessons about how we make choices every day. Whether we’re allocating resources, managing teams, navigating uncertainty or deciding to precisely nothing, we’re all constantly placing bets—on ideas, on people, on the weather, and on dozens of other outcomes we can’t fully predict.

Why Folding Can Be the Smartest Move

One of the most surprising takeaways was the importance of knowing when not to act. In poker, folding isn’t failure—it’s a deliberate, strategic decision to preserve resources and wait for better opportunities.

In business, the same principle applies. Not every opportunity is worth pursuing. The discipline to say no—to pause, reflect, and focus on what matters most—is often what separates good decisions from great ones.

The Power of Possibility

One line that particularly stuck with the Sheridan team was this:
“The future isn’t something out there waiting to be predicted—it’s something we create through the choices we make every day.”
It was a powerful reminder that uncertainty isn’t necessarily something to fear—it’s a space for possibility.

From Risk to Reward: What Poker Teaches Us About Growth

The poker tournament that followed Caspar’s talk wasn’t just a fun activity (though it certainly was that). It was also a practical extension of the theme: getting comfortable with uncertainty, making judgment calls under pressure, and learning through doing.

Congratulations again to Chloe Brockley of Fidelity International, who walked away as our tournament winner!

Thank You for Being Part of It

From Caroline, Erin, Olivia and Evan—and everyone at Sheridan Worldwide—thank you to everyone who joined us. Your presence made the night what it was: full of warmth, insight, and meaningful connection.

As we look ahead to the next chapter of Sheridan Worldwide, we carry with us the same values that have brought us this far: courage, curiosity and human understanding.

Here’s to the next 13 years of bold decisions and brilliant partnerships.
